Rachel Brown, LCSW

I'm Rachel Brown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Jefferson City. I work with adults, teens, and couples. My special focus is women's issues and trauma. That work often involves anxiety, depression, intrusive memories, trouble sleeping, and strain in relationships.

In Rachel's words

Are you struggling with the past being overly present in your life today? If so, I can help. I focus on adult and teen issues, and I work with my clients on the symptoms of trauma. Trauma can show up as anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, relationship difficulties, and trouble sleeping, and in many other ways. Each of my clients works from a treatment plan built for their own needs.

I am trained in Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR, which focuses on the root of a problem and on finding a safe way forward. I also use a client-centered approach and CBT to build coping skills and confidence in relationships.

How I work

  • Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR — a structured therapy for working through distressing memories. It uses guided eye movements or other back-and-forth rhythms.
  • CBT — working on the thoughts and habits that keep a problem going.
  • MBCT — mindfulness practice combined with CBT.
  • Schema Therapy — working with long-standing patterns that formed early in life.
  • Client-centered approach — counseling led by your goals and your pace.
  • Art-based techniques — drawing and other art-making in sessions.

Education and license

  • Master of Science in Social Work, University of Tennessee College of Social Work, 2015.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Tennessee.
